Fair Outreach Reformed Ministry

This page is dedicated to a very special young man who is a member of our church, First Baptist ,Marydel. His name is Howie Pleasanton and he has cerebral palsy. God has chosen to save him at an early age. It is obvious to everyone who meets him that the Holy Spirit is in control of his life. He really understands and can articulate the Doctrines of Grace. God has given him an exceptional mind, as well as a humble, sweet spirit. At his baptism the church was filled to capacity by people who were Howie’s friends, lost and saved alike who came to see Howie baptized.

He has already been on Mission Trips to Scotland, where Pastor Adam Plenderlief had him speak in his church service. He has been invited to a Boy’s Home (Orphanage), in West Virginia, where the Director invited him to come and minister. He, along with young people from our church, including his cousins Amber and Login went on a Mission Trip to Belize this past June, where they conducted VBS in villages in that country.

In 2006 he felt led to have a Revival at the Delaware State Fair. He asked the Director of the fair and surprisingly was granted permission to hold a Gospel Concert and Preaching on a Sunday. The Sunday service was attended by about 400 people. There were several singing groups, including our own Loretta Murphy and Bob Phillips preached. This past year he held his service again with several groups again. Leland Browder, President of Missions Unlimited, from Travelers Rest, S C and Bob preached. We are looking forward to his ministry each and every year plan to join us this year.

November 15 -21, 2008 we took Howie, along with his two cousins, Amber and Login to Greenville, S C to spend the week ministering. We attended Clemson’s Homecoming game with Duke on the 15th, where the kids became official Clemson Tigers. We attended Rod Wilton’s church, Mush Greek Baptist on Sunday. We spent Monday with Leland on his farm. Tuesday and Wednesday we spoke and showed slides at North Greenville University in Dr. Roe’s Mission Classes (4 in all). We also set up a display in the cafeteria to recruit students for our mission trip to Belize in June, 2009. Howie told about the slides, as his Assistant, Amber interpreted for him. The students were spellbound as Howie shared the missions program with them. We had several students sign up for the trip in June. Thanks to Leland for scheduling all this. What a great week!!
