FOREIGN MISSIONS SCOTLAND

We have enjoyed a Partnership Ministry through the Maryland Baptist Convention for several years. We have enjoyed so many good times with Pastor Adam Plenderlief, his wife Hillary and their two  daughters, Rebecca and Elizabeth. They have visited our church in Maryland on several occasions. We have taken missions teams to Islay on two occasions to minister. We have sang, preached, witnessed, did some landscaping, power spraying the church building, ministered in the Nursing Home and of course we couldn’t visit Scotland without playing golf on the Islay Golf Course, located by the sea. Stan and Mary Roberts showed us around Islay and visited us in the states.

We also visited and spoke briefly at the Baptist Church in Oban, also on the sea. Bob purchased a real Scottish Kilt there and was measured by probably the best kilt makers in Scotland, had it hand made and shipped to the states, with all the accompanying attire. The Tartan was from the MacDonald Clan of which he is descended. We visited Dunoon, where our friend Alex Morrison is Pastor. We had lunch with him and Dr. David Lee, Executive Secretary of the Maryland Baptist Convention. We visited the Isle of Skye where we stayed at the MacDonald Clan Castle. We also worshipped with our friend Kenny MacDonald at his Church and enjoyed a time of fellowship. Praise God for allowing us to minister in Scotland. We love that country and her people!!

CASTLE CONFERENCES IN SCOTLAND

Last year our team from WORLDMISSION held Reformed Conferences in castles in Scotland. Our first conference was at Melville Castle in Edinburgh. While there we visited the Banner of Truth offices, met all the folks and toured the office, then the BOT warehouse where we bought a lot of books. We also met with Pastor Steve Worth, ARBCA Pastor in Edinburgh. Our friend, who had already preached at our church in Maryland, Steven Murphy was flown from his church in Ireland to Edinburgh where he preached in this conference.

We then traveled across the country to the Isle of Skye where we held our second conference. While there we took time to visit and get acquainted with Pastor Kenny MacDonald. Skye was a beautiful, mysterious place.

We ended our series of conferences in Inverness at Kilvarock Castle, a castle owned by a Christian Trust of the Rose Family.  There Bob  preached again and Loretta Murphy from our church sang again. Joining us on the program was Jack Seaton, former Pastor of the Reformed Baptist Church, Inverness. Also preaching was Dr. Nick Needham, current pastor at the church. We had our best attendance at the conference. We look forward to returning to Scotland. While there Pastor Timothy McGlynn from the Isle of Harris came by from the BOT Conference
